Dr. Alexander Neumeister will take the audience on a journey to explain the impact of psychological and physical trauma on brain function and behavior. While a significant portion of the population gets exposed to severe trauma during a lifetime, only a relatively small portion of trauma survivors will develop changes in brain function and behavior that requires treatment. In this presentation, Dr. Neumeister will explain how the use of modern brain imaging techniques have changed our understanding of the impact of trauma on people. Importantly, he will lay out how these techniques contribute to the development of novel, next generation treatments for trauma survivors. Plenty of time will be dedicated to discuss these latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment with the audience.
